An artistic ritual centered on craftsmanship, time, and the creative process.
ABOUT THE
Ritual
My name is Marina Sanz, and I create small collections of handmade ceramics.
For me, working with ceramics is an almost hypnotic practice, a ritual similar to meditation that forces me to focus on the clay and every movement.
ABOUT THE
Philosophy
Working with your hands means returning to a more intentional way of creating, where every gesture is made with care and takes time.
In a world where everything is mass-produced, ceramics represent a return to craftsmanship and uniqueness, through a more mindful and sustainable approach.
ABOUT THE
Process
Each piece is hand-shaped on the potter's wheel. This process ensures that each object retains the subtle variations characteristic of handmade work.
After shaping the piece, the clay undergoes a drying process and is fired twice in the kiln. Each stage has its own pace and cannot be rushed.
3 Stages
-
Wheel thrown
Each piece is hand-shaped on the potter's wheel.
-
Drying and first firing
The clay slowly transforms in the kiln.
-
Glazing and second firing
The fire sets the piece and its final finish.
ABOUT THE
Studio
The pieces are produced in Madrid in small, limited runs.
Working on this scale allows us to maintain a direct connection with each piece and devote time and attention to every stage of the process.
